Jackson Pollock died seventy years ago exactly TODAY, August 11, 1956, driving drunk and into a tree (and killing one of two passengers in the car) at the age of 44. People have often wondered what art would have become if Pollock had lived?

My Dad sometimes called me Jackson (among other nicknames like Butch and Jackie) but I don't think he'd ever heard of Pollock. But we were Polacks in Chicago, since one of my grandfathers came from Poland. (Mostly we were Slovacks).

Does any of this explain anything??
