Jack Balas, 2024; THE FALL OF AUTUMN LEAVES (#2631); India ink & acrylic on paper, 24x18 inches
TEXT:
Under a maple in the yard, late summer, I think back to the years
I spent teaching Freshmen Comp. at the university in Boulder,
spending entire weekends back here correcting papers, writing
in margins, circling typos, surrounded by a sea of red and yellow,
drawing arrows, giving them ideas. This was years before I started
my photos with other students (a "project."). Now I
look forward to the fall of autumn leaves.
