Jack Balas, 2024; DITTO (CORN DOGS) (#2690); India ink on paper, 18x24 inches

Text:
The reds, the yellows, oranges fighting it out just beyond my window, dusk, a few hours before the winter solstice. Tree silhouettes, piles of leaves, maybe an old tuft of snow. This painting, some slow music echoing. Reading last night Garrison K. (Keillor) at his state fair, on the ferris wheel rising up into the stars- had a vision- himself as a young daddy, buying his 2 little kids corn dogs which they ate with one hand, the other hand on daddy's leg afraid they would lose him. He ends it with "Thank you, dear God, for this good life and forgive us if we do not love it enough." All I can say is DITTO.
