I USED TO WRITE ON ENVELOPES.

Text: "Thirty miles west of Santa Rosa and thirty minutes after night has settled onto the black plains of New Mexico, the voice of KGBI Omaha/ Council Bluffs comes sailing across the black sky and stars. Thirty miles west of Santa Rosa the Big Dipper is rising above mesas that cannot be seen, while the headlights and taillights of cars and trucks twitch and roll in the dips and curves of Interstate 40. Billboards for the good-food-home-style-Mexican-U.S.A. Club Cafe cannot be seen, nor signs for 2000-room Tucumcari Tonight. Omaha cannot be seen, nor Council Bluffs, nor I. But our voices keep telling us, reassuring us, that we are there."
